FAQ

The Land Rover Experience Adventure Travel Namibia programme is operated by Self Drive Adventure Tours (Pty.) Ltd. on behalf of Agentur für Promotion und Service GmbH (APS) / Land Rover Experience Germany, who are licensed and authorised by Jaguar Land Rover.

The APS GmbH is entitled to provide services under the names “Jaguar Experience”, “Land Rover Experience” or “Jaguar Land Rover Experience”. See General Terms and Conditions of APS GmbH here.

You do! There will be a Land Rover Experience instructor on hand to provide guidance and support, but these are self-drive itineraries, so you’re behind the wheel in the latest Land Rover Defender vehicles. You’ll be in charge, commanding the vehicle on your own. We will generally travel in convoy using radio communication between vehicles.

All Land Rovers are equipped with automatic transmission.

Absolutely. There will be a qualified Land Rover Experience instructor accompanying each trip who will provide expert guidance and reassurance, but each trip is designed for drivers of all abilities.

All driving guests must be at least 19 years old and have held a full valid driving licence for at least one year. An International Driving Permit is required. To participate in the Driving Experience you should ensure that you do not know of any circumstances which would disqualify you from driving such as chronic back problems (or similar conditions), mental conditions which might impair your ability to drive, eyesight which doesn’t meet the standards for driving, pregnancy or heart problems.

Prices are based on two people sharing a vehicle. On request, a 3rd and 4th person can be booked into the vehicle.

In general the trips are suitable for children over 11 years, but please contact us for further details and to discuss your individual requirements.

To maintain a more intimate and exclusive experience, the maximum group size for Namibia Safari, Mountain Wilderness Self-Drive and Botswana Safari will be 10 guests (two per vehicle) and the minimum group size is 6. For Skeleton Coast Self-Drive, the maximum group size will be 8 guests and the minimum group size is 5 guests.

Yes, we will gladly facilitate a private tour for group bookings of 10 guests or more. The programme can be tailored and adapted to meet the needs of the group.

No – for safety reasons we do not allow anyone to travel alone in a vehicle. Solo travellers will be paired in the vehicle with another guest or if there is an odd number of guests, one of our instructors will accompany you in the vehicle. You will have your own room throughout the trip.

We’ve selected a range of inviting and atmospheric places to stay across all adventures. After long days behind the wheel, you’ll appreciate the multiple peaceful and relaxing environments. From fashionable hotels in the centre of Windhoek and Swakopmund, to traditional rustic lodges and vehicle roof-tents overlooking watering holes, each space provides a unique and memorable experience.

Your itinerary and accommodation are subject to change based on availability. We reserve the right to replace the itinerary and accommodation with similar alternatives.

It is not possible to participate with your own vehicle due to insurance reasons.

Please, see the upcoming tours here.
